Arthritis Q & A

What is arthritis?

Arthritis is a blanket term used to describe the painful, and often debilitating, inflammation of your joints. There are over 100 different types of arthritis and associated diseases, which, according to the Arthritis Foundation, affect approximately 5 million American adults and 300,000 children.

What are the most common types of arthritis?

The three most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and post-traumatic arthritis.

Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis, or “wear-and-tear” arthritis, is the most common type of arthritis and causes your cartilage, a soft, cushion-like substance that pads your joints, to deteriorate. As more cartilage wears away, your bones rub up against one another causing swelling, stiffness, and general discomfort.

Rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that causes your body’s immune system to attack healthy joint tissue. Common symptoms associated with RA include stiffness and joint pain in the mornings, as well as progressive joint deformities. Women are much more likely to develop RA than men.

Post-traumatic arthritis

Post-traumatic arthritis is arthritis that develops following an accident, like a sports-related injury or car wreck. Damage to your cartilage and joints changes the way they function, which can also cause them to wear out more quickly. Professional athletes and weekend warriors are particularly susceptible to post-traumatic arthritis.

What are the symptoms of arthritis?

The symptoms of arthritis vary depending on the type of arthritis you have and its location. Some of the telltale signs associated with arthritis include:

  • Joint pain
  • Joint stiffness
  • Swelling
  • Redness or a sensation of heat around your joints
  • Decreased range of motion

As arthritis progresses, it can also cause physical deformities and negatively impact your mobility.

What are miracle wands?

Miracle wands are holistic treatment devices taking their inspiration from traditional Chinese medicine. Thousands of years ago, ancient herbal practitioners used mugwort and different-shaped stones to produce heat and treat a variety of ailments, including arthritis.

What happens during miracle wand treatment for arthritis?

Miracle wand treatment starts with a comprehensive physical exam. Your Miracle Wands Wellness Center provider also reviews your medical history and asks you a series of questions about the symptoms you’re experiencing.

Next, you lie down on an exam table and your provider carefully applies the miracle wands to specific areas of your body. For example, if you’re suffering from rheumatoid arthritis-related pain, your provider can apply the wands to the joints in your fingers and wrists.

The properties in the miracle wands are known to encourage your body’s vital balance, helping reduce stress and ease pain and inflammation.

Don’t let arthritis pain prevent you from living a healthy, active, and rewarding life. To request your miracle wand consultation today, simply call or click the online booking tool
